Who doesn’t long for their very own swimming pool in their backyard? There really is nothing better than lounging around by the pool on a hot summer’s day; and it’s one pastime that will keep the kids amused for hours!
What you need to think about right now, is what sort of swimming pool is best for your garden. You’ve no doubt seen plenty of fibreglass and concrete pools but you’re probably not sure which is best suited to you. So let’s take a look.
Concrete pools
While concrete may be the most versatile type of pool since it can practically be made into any shape or size, it can also be one of the most expensive. That said, you might want to consider the value of your home. If you’re residing in an area where many of the properties are at the high end of the market, yours included, then opting for a cheaper option could possibly decrease your property value. Conversely, a concrete pool is likely to increase the value of a mid-price property.
Another thing to bear in mind is that concrete pools will require regular maintenance such as sweeping with a pool brush or broom to remove any alga from the pores of the surface of the water.
Fibreglass pools
Fibreglass pools are less costly than concrete pools and they do come with their own set of advantages. For starters, they require only minimal maintenance and feature steps and seating options in their design. They can also be installed in little more than 3 to 5 weeks.
On the downside, because they come ready made, you may find yourself restricted to certain shapes or varieties, due to the dimensions of your backyard. What’s more, they can only be a certain width as they’re delivered to your home ready made and naturally there are size limits for delivering via roads.
Other points to consider
Having decided which type of pool you’re leaning towards having, there may be some other points to consider. By law in Australia, your pool must be enclosed by safety fencing. This now means that not only do you have to consider the shape and dimensions of your pool but also how much space will be taken up by fencing and possibly a patio area. Other factors to consider when building a new pool, is landscaping and perhaps a shed for storing all of your pool equipment and chemicals.
While we can’t help you with the design of your pool and the landscaping of your garden, we can help you with a reliable and efficient pool cover.
Our custom pool covers can be made to fit any size or shape of pool, even those that feature rocks and waterfalls. We also provide safety nets which in our opinion are far safer where young children are concerned, than just a fence.
